On an overcast day in Bermagui a number of birds, including Great Cormorants, were in the water around a recreational fishing boat. The angler was returning from fishing at sea and was discarding the unwanted bits of fish to the waiting throng of birds. When he had finished, he revved his engines to hear to the wharf, scaring the birds into flight. One cormorant headed in my direction on the wharf so I crouched down to take the shot. The flew by barely above the water, and it had what looked like a determined look on its face as it flew past. I was very happy with the detail on the bird's face as well as the scalloping on the wings.
