Two sister lionesses were half asleep near their kill, a magnificant waterbuck thatI had photographed very much alive the day before. int was early in the day and the lionesses had only eaten a little of their prey. When a cackle of spotted hyena appeared on the scene both sisters sprung into action to drive them away. That determination is clear in this image. Hyena are both persistent and patient. I'm sure they eventually won out, hopefully after the sisters had their fill. Zulu Natal, South Africa.
