David Stratton has an amazing work ethic. In recent years he has been lecturing at University and film critiquing but at 84 he has decided to retire. To punctuate the occasion he invites a photographer to his house and does an interview even though he is in poor health with a degenerative disease making walking very hard. We spoke on the phone before the shoot and I was instantly charmed by his familiar voice. 'The front door will open. Just come in. I'll be in the living room.' While I am photographing him the phone rings, it's Margaret Pomeranz. "Have you seen Rachel Ward's documentary The Farm? ... "It's very good" David. "I liked it too" Margaret. I feel like I am tuning into the Movie Show.⁠ This is a man who has championed creativity and storytelling in our country for decades. I feel extremely honoured to spend some time with him.
