Darrian Traynor, Damaged but not Broken (PEOPLE 2023)

Antakya, Hatay Province, Turkey. - FEBRUARY 21 Betul Gomosh sits in front of the remains of her destroyed home in Antakya, Hatay Province, Turkey. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake followed by a second 7.6 magnitude quake struck northwest Syria and southern Turkey on February 6th causing wide spread destruction. Betul and her husband Fikret Gomosh where sleeping when their house began to shake. A wall of their home collapsed on top of their daughter. She was rescued and sent to hospital where her physical and emotional recovery can begin. The couple lived in a car in front of their home for 10 days before a tent was donated.
