Nicolas REMY, Cuttlefish patterns (ANIMALS 2021)

Cuttlefish have an amazing ability to change the colour, patterns and texture of their skin, instantaneously, as they like. This cuttlefish shows both a dotted pattern over its head, and on its back the stripped pattern of a male looking to mate. This animal was photographed underwater with one snooted strobe, to reveal these patterns while keeping the surroundings pitch-black.
