Mother supporting her son competing in a surfing competition. I wanted to capture the image so as the people were discretely imbued by their relationship positioning the mother in the corner allowing the pan shot to extend beyond the surfer her son deliberately obscuring their identity. The inclusion of the buildings in the background resonates with classic surf culture allowing the viewer in to relate to the iconic coastal scene but at the same time feel the connection with the people in the image.
