High on a remote mountain ridge in southwest Tasmania, Precambrian dolomite rocks have weathered to produce bizarre spikey landforms and deep sinkholes nestled in an ancient subalpine forest of King Billy pines, whose tapering growth forms mimic the foreground rocks and distant peak. The scene appears to be unfurling to reveal the dark ominous chasm known as the Cone of Silence.
