Penelope Robertshawe, Coffee catch up in the city (PEOPLE 2026)

In the middle of the working week in Sydney’s CBD, three white collar workers engage in conversation at an outdoor café. A mother passes by, pushing her baby in a stroller and briefly meets my gaze as she looks directly into my camera. I chose this image for its sense of storytelling – an ordinary moment of city life that nonetheless demands the viewer’s attention.
