Peter Bailey, Chiroptera (ANIMALS 2021)

This photograph of a Grey-Headed Flying Fox in flight is just one of countless bats that form a large colony in Commonwealth park, Canberra, ACT. They are very social creatures and it is interesting to watch them interact with each other. They hang together in the trees and fill the air with sound. And as the evening draws closer they take to the sky, one after another, wheeling in circles above the trees.
