Jayden Thomson, Children busking in Mehrangahr Fort in Jodhpur (PEOPLE 2024)

I was travelling with my parents in the Blue city of Jodhpur in India, and visiting Mehrangarh fort, huge and imposing on top the highest point of Jodhpur. Taking my attention were two children were of my age, busking with their family, plying their Indian folk music for visitors. It was obvious that one of the children had a facial deformity, yet regardless, he expressed such a sense of joy while playing with his brother, oblivious to the gaze of hordes of tourists. They captivated me.
