Annette Kirby, Checking (ANIMALS 2022)

I was privileged to be in the right place at the right time and watch this young Black Shouldered Kite devour a tasty mouse. After it had finished it's meal it turned and was just watching and checking me out. The sun was nearly set and the last rays of light were hitting the front of the Black Shouldered Kit. A few second after this photo was taken it was attached by some territorial honey eaters and it flew away.
