Kelvin Hennessy, Cape Byron Moonrise (PLACES 2021)

The Cape Byron Lighthouse is situated at the most easterly point of Australia. Once a month a large number of people gather to witness the setting sun and rising full moon. This photo from the evening of August 15th 2019 shows such a gathering of people catching the very last rays of sunlight, with the rising full moon behind them. For this photo-shoot I was located 4.8 km from the lighthouse with a high powered zoom lens which produces the illusion of the moon being very large relative to the lighthouse & people.
