Ferne Millen, Burt-wojak Bulok - Smoking Ceremony ( Series : Journey on Wadawurrung Country) (PEOPLE 2021)

Corrina Eccles is a proud Wadawurrung Woman. Her grandmother is the eldest of five generations still living here on Wadawurrung Country. In May last year, Corrina and I embarked on a journey to record the stories and capture the portraits of Wadawurrung Traditional Owners. This Burt-wojak Bulok Smoking Ceremony took place in Jan Jook to initiate the project. We walked together to collect the gum leaves and cherry ballart which was burned to pay our respects to elders past and present and to cleanse the air of negative energy, making way for a positive future.
