Hard up against the outside of the fence, down in the dirt, shooting from this angle makes everything feel magnified. Camera set to monochrome, starburst lens on. I track the explosive power of a bucking bronc as it launches itself into the air across the arena. In a split second, the arena lights catch the flying mane, creating a dramatic starburst that perfectly frames the chaos. A poetic ballet of man and beast in unison unfolds right in front of me, and I’ve caught it in its purest and raw form, black and white.
