Lesley Ambrose, Birthday Messages (PEOPLE 2026)

This photo of my mother was taken on the morning of her 85th birthday, I had taken her away on holiday and she she was checking her mobile phone for birthday messages. I liked her shadow on the motel room wall, the way she is focused on her phone and has her hair in curlers ready to make herself “glamorous” on her birthday.
