Annette Kirby, Big Plunge (ANIMALS 2022)

This white face heron was fishing at the mouth of the Todd River near Pt Lincoln in South Australia. It was a good hunter and succeeded in catching a big fish. This was the moment it plunged its neck into the water to catch a fish. I love how the speed and force of the impact on the water created a large curved splash.
