Chris Wood-Willems, 'Becoming' (PEOPLE 2025)

A swirl of tulle, a blur of motion, a monochrome moment, ... a young woman spins before ‘Rone's’ mural of a haunting gaze, a painted face both familiar and strange. The mural’s mirrored expression destabilises the boundary between self and other, real and imagined. Her ambiguous gaze resists a single narrative, inviting reflection on the layered, shifting nature of identity, compelling us to question where aspiration ends and authenticity begins, and to embrace the evolving contours of who we are and who we might become.
