Lorenzo Passalacqua, Avalanche (PLACES 2026)

Avalanche turns the ocean into impact. Seen from above, the wave does not simply break — it collapses like a mountain of water, swallowing the frame with the force of something alive and uncontrollable. The human figure at its edge is almost nothing: a small mark against scale, pressure and violence. In monochrome, the image strips the sea of beauty and leaves only what remains underneath — force, fragility, and the terrifying power of a place that does not care if we survive it.
