Theresa Lee, A Painter's Portrait (PEOPLE 2025)
The artists’ walk is held annually in Glebe, Sydney, where people can go to watch artists paint ‘en plein air’. I took along a round mirror as I was keen to try a technique where both the painter and their artwork can be seen in a single image. A willing passerby became my assistant and he’s holding the mirror in position so Paul, my subject, can be seen as he paints the scene before him. I chose B&W for this image as it invites us to look deeper beyond colour into the unspoken language of light itself.
